H.E. Don Jorge Alberto Valencia y Guevara, born in 1981 in Colombia, is a distinguished businessman with ventures spanning various industries, including telecommunications, oil and gas, and international consulting. He is also a lawyer and holds a degree in Law and Political Science, specializing in International Law, as well as a Juris Doctor (Doctor of Jurisprudence) from the University of Miami School of Law, USA.
An avid historian with a particular passion for medieval and Iberian history, Don Jorge Alberto is also an active political commentator in the United States, where he has had the opportunity to defend conservative and traditional values, American patriotism, and the U.S. Constitution as an originalist. He has served both as a political consultant and as a candidate. A dual citizen of the United States and Colombia, he ran for a congressional seat in the 2022 elections in Colombia.
He is a proud member of the historic Casa de Valencia, a Spanish nobiliary house and cadet branch of the Royal House of Burgundy of Castile and León. His lineage traces back to Infante Juan of Castile and Aragon, known as "El de Tarifa," son of King Alfonso X "the Wise" and Queen Violante of Aragon.
On his deathbed, King Alfonso X amended his testament by codicil to disinherit Infante Sancho (later King Sancho IV) and instead divided his realm into several kingdoms. As a result, Infante Juan was proclaimed as King Juan I of León, Seville, and Galicia upon his father's death, making the House of Valencia not only a noble house of royal lineage but a royal house per se, since its founder was King as Juan I of León.
The dynasty also descends from the Imperial House of Hohenstaufen, Holy Roman Emperors and Dukes of Swabia, a lineage visibly honored in the arms of the Casa Valencia, which prominently display two imperial eagles of the Hohenstaufen. This noble ancestry is documented, and the heraldic arms are actively borne today by Don Jorge Alberto and his descendants, as formally recognized by the Chief Herald of Arms under the authority of letters patent issued in Malta in 2024.
The arms of Casa Valencia, combining symbols of Castilian royalty and German imperial legacy, stand as a testament to this remarkable and ancient lineage.
After establishing itself in the Americas, the House of Valencia flourished particularly in Popayán (present-day Colombia), where it produced the Counts of Casa Valencia, Grandees of Spain, and leading republican-era figures such as diplomats, legislators, and President Guillermo León Valencia (President of Colombia, 1962–1966).
In colonial New Granada, the family made unions and alliances through marriages with other powerful Spanish noble houses, such as the House of Feria (Figueroa), Dukes of Feria, and the House of Alba (Álvarez de Toledo), Dukes of Alba. These ancestral connections, through female lines, descend from the prominent conquistador and colonial governor Don Francisco de Mosquera y Figueroa.
Don Jorge Alberto Valencia y Guevara bears the hereditary title of Lord of the House of Valencia (Señor de Casa Valencia), ius sanguinis. His noble and aristocratic heritage is further reflected in his knighthoods and honors in several prestigious European and Hispanic chivalric orders.
